The Killing Jar was treated to a wonderful staged reading at Theater MadCap last week. Eric Reid, Artistic Director, has created a ten-week STAGED series that explores and promotes inquiry into what 'diversity' means. Each play is chosen for its ability to provide diversity whether through casting or subject matter.
It was one of the most provocative and fascinating readings I've had. The audience was engaged and asked questions or made statements about the play that showed a thirst for seeing work that mirrored the world we live in, which, by the way, is NOT middle-aged, white male.
Reid just launched their Indiegogo campaign to raise money in order to continue to provide FREE readings to the public, to keep the conversations happening, and to put up their next production, Sam Shepherd's True West, cast with black actors.

Theater MadCap has three more plays in their lineup so there's plenty of chances to participate in the discussion.
Get thee to the theater!
